Defined in the West, flow is;
‘A state where people are performing at their best and are fully engaged in what they are doing and loving it’.
Authors note: This book began in 2014 and was first published under the title ‘Embrace fear, find flow’ in 2020. Since this first publication, I have made thousands of edits to the original book, which include changing the title, adding new information, downsizing in some areas and a complete cover-to-cover rewrite of the content. If you have read the original book, I am confident, you will find this 2nd Edition refreshing, stimulating and rich with inclusions of new material.
New Book
From fear,
to flow
By Peter Shearer
Drawn from the wisdom of science, psychology, Eastern philosophy and the martial arts, this highly engaging guide will help you move beyond fear based limitations to the state of flow.
‘‘What restricts flow is usually fear in some form. Over decades of working with people and seeing, firsthand, how fear can diminish, derail, even destroy lives, I was inspired to write this book. Fear is not the enemy, however. The challenge is developing a healthy relationship with this powerful emotion, so that fear fulfils its noble purpose of protecting you, and at the same time, you are still able to live a bountiful life. This book is designed to help you achieve this connection and create the foundations in life to experience higher levels of happiness, fulfilment and flow.’’
“An inspiring, uplifting read, full of surprising insights and practical wisdom. Shearer takes a broad sweep, pulling in the ancient with the modern, the East with the West, and ultimately creates a call to action to embrace life’s opportunities and live more courageously.”
“Peter is a very compelling teacher as you will discover in this book… his lessons have served me well both personally and professionally (and) been some of the most important in shaping how I lead. The experience of reading this book is very like being in a workshop with Peter. He brings transformed ideas to life with personal stories, memorable visual pictures of them and clear explanations of ideas… They are ideas that have become an integral part of my personal philosophy of life.”
“Peter is well and truly a super coach. He found a niche through a combination of his background in social work, deep coaching experience and martial arts to build connections and create lasting change. Peter’s ability to change both the hearts and minds of his audience coupled with his strong passion to help the individual is what makes him a true master of his craft.”
“Peter is one of the most engaging storytellers we know, we each have our favourite “Pete story” – from trekking snow laden mountains to wrestling inner dragons. Peter’s martial artistry in karate further demonstrates his passion for focus and flow.”
